Samuel Opoku, 29, Charged in Toronto Sex Assault Case

Victim Escaped After Attack Near Dufferin and Eglinton

TORONTO – A 29-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a sexual assault in Toronto’s Fairbank neighbourhood, police announced Thursday.

The incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. near Dufferin Street and Eglinton Avenue West. According to Toronto police, a woman was followed by a man after exiting a TTC bus. The man allegedly grabbed her from behind and sexually assaulted her.

The victim managed to escape and run away. Police say the suspect continued to follow her but was stopped by a bystander who intervened.

The suspect, identified as Samuel Opoku, has been arrested and charged with:

Sexual assault

Criminal harassment by repeated following

Breach of probation

The charges have not been proven in court.

Investigators have released a photo of Opoku and believe there may be additional victims. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Toronto Police.
