LOS ANGELES — Samson Nacua, the brother of Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua, was among two men arrested over the weekend in connection with the alleged theft of a vehicle reportedly belonging to Los Angeles Lakers forward Adou Thiero, authorities said.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that deputies arrested Samson Nacua, 27, and Trey Rose, 27, on Saturday after locating a newer-model BMW in the 8400 block of Sunset Boulevard in West Hollywood. NBC4 Los Angeles reported the vehicle was owned by Thiero.

Both men were taken into custody on suspicion of taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent, but were released later that night. According to sheriff’s department jail records, they were released under California Penal Code Section 849(b), which indicates there were insufficient grounds to file a criminal complaint at that time.

Investigators said the case remains under investigation, and no additional details were released. It was not immediately known whether either man has legal representation.

Samson Nacua previously played college football at Utah and BYU and later spent time in NFL training camps with the Indianapolis Colts and New Orleans Saints. In April, he was suspended for one game by the United Football League (UFL) after an altercation with a fan, which also required him to complete community service.

Meanwhile, Puka Nacua has recently drawn attention after making comments during a livestream suggesting some NFL referees make calls to gain television exposure.
