A shocking case from Nagpur has emerged involving Sameera Fatima, a 35-year-old teacher accused of marrying eight men over 15 years and extorting huge sums from them. She was arrested on July 29 while trying to con another victim.

Fatima targeted wealthy, married Muslim men by contacting them on matrimonial websites and social media, presenting herself as a widow with a child. After marriage, she allegedly mentally harassed her husbands, secretly recorded their conversations, and used edited voice clips to create false narratives. She filed complaints against them for adultery and harassment, then demanded money in exchange for withdrawing the cases.

Police revealed that Fatima worked with a gang to extort money. Victims claim she extorted Rs 50 lakhs from one man and Rs 15 lakhs from another, via cash and bank transfers. One husband was a senior Reserve Bank officer. Another, married to her in 2022, filed an FIR in 2024 for a Rs 10 lakh cheque fraud and false complaints.

Fatima had been absconding for months. She was finally caught meeting her next target at Dolly Ki Tapri, Civil Lines. Earlier, she had sought refuge in a madarsa with help from a maulana, and escaped from a private hospital while seven months pregnant.

Police are continuing their investigation into the gang’s activities.
