The UT Police Crime Branch arrested three men for allegedly attempting to smuggle heroin into Chandigarh. The accused were identified as Sameer (21) and Junaid (23) from Sector 25, Chandigarh, and Nihal Singh (31), a resident of Amritsar, Punjab. All three have been remanded to police custody.

The investigation began when a woman drug peddler, Pooja from Maulijagran, was caught with heroin. During questioning, she revealed she had sourced the drugs from Sameer. Police arrested Sameer and recovered heroin from him. He then named Junaid, who was subsequently arrested from Sector 25, also in possession of the narcotic.

Further interrogation of Sameer led to the arrest of Nihal Singh, who police allege supplied the heroin in the city. According to initial findings, Nihal procured the drugs from across the border. The total seizure from the three accused amounts to approximately 100 grams of heroin.

Authorities are continuing the investigation to uncover more links in the drug trafficking network.
