Maharashtra police have registered a case against former village sarpanch Samadhan Ughade for allegedly cultivating opium in his fields in Dharashiv district.
Ughade, a worker of the Shiv Sena (UBT), is currently absconding, according to police. Authorities received information regarding opium farming at Dasegaon and conducted a raid. During the operation, approximately 400 kg of opium flowers, valued at Rs 72 lakh, were seized.
A First Information Report (FIR) has been filed at Washi Police Station under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Police continue to search for Ughade and have appealed for public assistance in locating him.
