Salomon Cruz-Perez Charged With Aggravated Animal Cruelty

Florida man accused of killing two dogs found hanging from tree

Salomon Cruz-Perez, 40, of Fort Pierce, Florida, has been charged with two counts of aggravated animal cruelty resulting in death. Deputies from the St. Lucie County Sheriff’s Office (SLCSO) made the disturbing discovery while responding to a civil matter at his home on Sunday evening.

Gruesome Discovery
Upon arrival at the property around 5:29 p.m., deputies found two deceased dogs—a male and a female—suspended from a tree. Their necks were tightly bound with multiple materials, including ropes, chains, coaxial cables, tie-down straps, and paracords.

Authorities obtained a search warrant and worked through the night with Crime Scene Investigators to further examine the case. St. Lucie County Animal Control collected the dogs for further investigation.

Charges and Legal Proceedings
Cruz-Perez was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated animal cruelty resulting in death. He is currently being held at the St. Lucie County Jail on a $10,000 bond.

Authorities continue to investigate the case, and further legal proceedings are expected.
