Operatives of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Kano State have arrested 28-year-old Salisu Abdu Adam for allegedly defrauding a married woman of ₦1.8 million through deception involving local charms and false promises.
According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Ibrahim Abdullahi, Adam is originally from Garko Local Government Area but resides in Kawo, Nassarawa LGA of Kano State. The alleged fraud occurred in Garko LGA, where Adam reportedly convinced the victim that he could secure better education and a highly profitable business opportunity for her.
The suspect allegedly used local charms to manipulate the woman into handing over the money, banking on spiritual promises and emotional exploitation.
The NSCDC spokesperson confirmed that the investigation has been concluded, and Adam will be charged to court soon.
This incident follows a recent trend of similar fraud cases handled by the NSCDC. In July, the Ekiti State Command arrested and arraigned a woman, Abigail Timothy, over a ₦159 million visa fraud targeting Pastor Adewusi Tibatope Samuel and others.
Additionally, NSCDC operatives in Kano recently arrested another suspect for a job scam, involving fake offers of employment within state government ministries.
Authorities continue to warn the public against falling victim to fraudsters using deceit, spiritual manipulation, or false employment and immigration promises.
