In a major crackdown on organised human trafficking, the Outer North District of Delhi Police has dismantled a trafficking network operating across Delhi–NCR and Srinagar, rescuing multiple minors and arresting four key individuals.
The investigation began at Bhalswa Dairy police station, where a woman reported the kidnapping of her 15-year-old daughter and a 13-year-old neighbour. The case was handed over to the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU), which used technical surveillance to trace the missing girls to Srinagar.
On June 15, police successfully rescued both minors, who testified to the Child Welfare Committee that they had been lured at Old Delhi Railway Station, transported via Jammu, and forced into unpaid domestic labour.
After weeks of investigation, police arrested:
Salim-ul-Rehman alias Wasim (38) from Ganderbal, Srinagar
Suraj (31) from Begampur, Delhi
Md. Talib from Rampur, UP
Satnam Singh alias Sardar Ji from Barabanki, UP
A 16-year-old minor was also rescued during a raid in Srinagar on August 19.
Salim, who operated V.A. Manpower Pvt Ltd in Srinagar, confessed to trafficking nearly 500 individuals over two years, charging up to Rs60,000 per female victim. Suraj served as a transporter for recruits from Old Delhi Railway Station.
Md. Talib was found with a forged UP Police ID card (Sub-Inspector rank), allegedly used to evade checkpoints.
