In a shocking incident from Shewlae village in Maharashtra’s Jalgaon district, an 85-year-old woman, Janabai Patil, was murdered by three youths after she reprimanded them for creating noise near her residence. The crime occurred late Friday night under the jurisdiction of the Pimpalgaon Hareshwar Police Station.
Janabai, who lived alone with her son and grandson residing in adjacent homes, was found murdered by her son around 11 p.m. Upon discovering the front door locked from the inside, he entered through the back and found her in a pool of blood. He immediately alerted nearby residents and the police.
Initially registered as a case against unknown persons, the investigation soon pointed to Sahil Tadvi (21), a local youth whom Janabai had recently scolded. Police say Sahil confessed during interrogation to planning the murder with the help of Rakesh Hatagade (21) and Rajesh Hatagade (18). The motive was revenge and theft. The trio planned to steal her gold ornaments, which they removed after the killing.
Witnesses had seen three individuals fleeing over a wall behind Janabai’s home around 9:30 p.m., helping police narrow down the suspects. The accused were arrested shortly after.
The case was cracked by the Local Crime Branch (LCB), led by Inspector Sandeep Patil, under the guidance of SP Maheswar Reddy and Additional SP Kavita Nerkar.
