In a major crackdown on human trafficking, Sahibganj police arrested two individuals, including a woman named Mary Soren, from a rented house in Sakrugarh, under the town police station limits of Sahibganj district, Jharkhand. The operation, based on a tip-off, also led to the rescue of two minor girls believed to be victims of trafficking.
Superintendent of Police Amit Kumar Singh formed a special team that raided the house of Ramkishun Paswan. During the operation, police arrested Mary Soren and Sanjay Soren, both residents of Dhanela village under Borio police station.
Police suspect the rented house was being used as a transit point where minor boys and girls were lured with promises of jobs and sent to other states like Delhi and Mumbai for illegal purposes.
Along with the minors, the police recovered critical evidence, including:
Rs41,070 in cash
4 forged Aadhaar cards
4 bank passbooks
2 notebooks listing names of trafficked individuals
3 mobile phones
According to DSP and Nodal Officer Vijay Kumar Kushwaha, Mary Soren is a repeat offender and had been arrested previously in another human trafficking case. “She was involved in transporting minors to metro cities under the guise of offering employment,” he stated.
The accused have been sent to judicial custody, and a case has been registered at Nagar police station. Police are now working to uncover the wider trafficking network linked to this operation.
