Sage Rice, 33, of Akron, Ohio, has been sentenced to prison following charges related to methamphetamine trafficking and evading police. Rice was handed a sentence ranging from four years and nine months to six years and six months behind bars.
Summit County Prosecutor Kolkovich expressed the community’s commitment to combating drug trafficking, stating, “Drug trafficking devastates families and our communities. We will continue to hold offenders like Rice accountable and work to keep dangerous drugs off our streets.”
Rice pleaded guilty to two charges: aggravated trafficking in drugs, a first-degree felony, and failure to comply with an order or signal of a police officer, a third-degree felony.
The incident took place last year when Rice attempted to avoid a traffic stop. A seven-minute police chase ensued, during which Rice ran a red light and crashed his vehicle. Before fleeing on foot, police found Rice had placed two plastic bags containing 225.51 grams of methamphetamine underneath his car.
This conviction highlights the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat illegal drug trafficking in Akron and the surrounding area.
