In a series of anti-narcotics operations, Guwahati police arrested multiple drug peddlers and seized narcotics from various city locations on Monday and Tuesday.
Azara Police intercepted a Tata Magic (AS25DC7818) vehicle at Bongara, where 11 vials of suspected heroin weighing 15 grams were found hidden under the driver’s seat. The vehicle’s driver, Sadhar Ali, a resident of Lahorighat in Morigaon district, was immediately taken into custody.
In a separate operation, Basistha Police arrested Hasna Khatun from the Beharbari area, recovering 532 grams of ganja from her possession. Khatun hails from Dhubri.
In another bust, police arrested Basanti Basumary from Khanapara. Basumary, previously absconding despite a non-bailable warrant (110/24), was found with 15.14 grams of suspected heroin.
Meanwhile, Udalbakra outpost personnel also destroyed 150 litres of illicit country liquor at Bishnu Rabha Path as part of the ongoing crackdown.
Authorities confirmed that all three accused are in custody, and further investigations are underway to uncover the extent of the drug network.
