Sadegh Mansouri Arrested in Mashhad, Held Without Contact for 10 Days
Sadegh Mansouri, a prominent member of the Khorasan Calligraphers Association, was arrested by Islamic Republic security forces at his workplace in Mashhad on July 1, 2025. Since then, his fate and whereabouts remain unknown, according to reports from Hengaw Organization for Human Rights.
Mansouri was detained during a class session at the association’s premises, where he was actively teaching. His arrest occurred despite the fact that both he and his wife, Zahra Akbari—a teacher in Mashhad—were already serving court-issued sentences under electronic monitoring.
The Coordinating Council of Iranian Teachers’ Trade Associations confirmed their monitored status and expressed concern over the nature of Mansouri’s sudden detention.
For the past ten days, his family has repeatedly contacted authorities seeking information, but officials have not disclosed any details about his condition, location, or the charges he may be facing.
The circumstances surrounding his arrest and the legal basis for his continued detention remain unclear, raising alarm among human rights groups and education advocates alike.
