Madurai cybercrime police have arrested three men from Tiruppur for allegedly cheating a resident of Thiruvedagam, Madurai, out of Rs11.5 lakh in a cryptocurrency investment scam.
According to police reports, the victim was lured with promises of high returns on online cryptocurrency investments earlier this year. After filing a complaint, the Madurai rural cybercrime team launched an investigation, tracing the suspects to Tiruppur.
The arrested individuals have been identified as S Hariharan (25) of Sakthi Theatre Road, S Sankar (35) of Poyampalayam, and R Parasuram (29) of Unnamalainagar. Police seized mobile phones, SIM cards, and bank passbooks from their possession as evidence.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the accused used their bank accounts to funnel money from victims to cybercriminal networks.
