Ryan Perry Charged in Schenectady Shooting Incident

Woman injured in August 11 shooting on Watt Street

SCHENECTADY, NY (WRGB) — A Schenectady man has been arrested in connection with a shooting that left a woman injured earlier this summer.

Ryan J. Perry, 29, was taken into custody by the Schenectady Police Department with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force. The arrest stems from an incident on August 11, when a woman was shot in the leg near the intersection of Watt Street and Tremont Avenue.

The shooting occurred around 8:31 p.m. The victim, a woman in her 30s, was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Following an investigation, Perry has been charged with:

Second-degree attempted murder (felony)

First-degree criminal use of a firearm

Second-degree criminal possession of a weapon

First-degree reckless endangerment

Authorities have not disclosed a possible motive behind the shooting. Perry remains in custody pending further legal proceedings.
