PICKENS COUNTY, Ala. — Russell Douglas Beede, 39, of Fayette, was arrested and charged with murder following a deadly shooting in Pickens County on Thursday.
The Pickens County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene on Water Mill Road, where they found a man who had been shot. Through coordinated efforts between dispatch and deputies, a description of the suspect’s vehicle was shared with surrounding agencies. About 15 minutes later, a Lamar County deputy spotted the vehicle speeding before it crashed.
Beede was taken into custody and booked into the Pickens County Jail, where he is being held on the murder charge.
