For eight consecutive days, Rubén Enrique Gutiérrez Jiménez, 33, carried out a series of thefts at Home Depot stores in Hialeah and Hialeah Gardens, Florida, stealing thousands of dollars worth of power tools.
According to police reports, Gutiérrez’s crime spree began on March 7, 2025, when he walked out of the Home Depot at 950 Southeast 12th Street, Hialeah, with two grinders worth $328, without paying. The following day, he returned, stealing two grinders and a heat gun worth $417. That same day, he hit another Home Depot in Hialeah Gardens (13895 W. Okeechobee Road), taking two drills and a hammer drill valued at $447.
His thefts continued daily:
March 9: Drill, impact wrench, circular saw ($597)
March 10: Two drills, circular saw ($567)
March 11: Several tools from Hialeah store ($756)
March 12: Multiple tools ($589)
March 13: More tools ($586)
On March 14, as he attempted to steal $996 worth of tools from the same Hialeah store, a Home Depot investigator spotted his gray 2021 Hyundai Elantra in the parking lot. Police confronted him as he headed toward his car and took him into custody.
Authorities also discovered that Gutiérrez had pawned stolen tools in seven separate transactions, falsely claiming ownership. He now faces multiple charges for grand theft and fraud.
