Florida Man Arrested in Morgan County on Cocaine Trafficking Charge
MORGAN COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — A Florida man is facing serious charges after a drug trafficking operation in Morgan County resulted in his arrest.
On Sunday, agents from the Morgan County Sheriff’s Drug Enforcement Unit conducted an operation in Hartselle that led to the seizure of 2 kilograms of cocaine. The cocaine was found in a vehicle registered to 24-year-old Ruben De La Cruz Diaz, a resident of Labelle, Florida.
Diaz was arrested and charged with trafficking cocaine. Following his arrest, he was transported to the Morgan County Jail, where he is being held on a $250,000 cash bond. In addition to the trafficking charge, an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detainer was placed on him, pending verification of his immigration status.
The Morgan County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division and K9 Unit also played a key role in the investigation, assisting agents during the operation.
