Chandauli, Uttar Pradesh – In a major drug bust, Roshan Kumar Dangi, a resident of Chatra district, Jharkhand, was arrested late Saturday night by Kotwali police near Majhwar Railway Station with 2.3 kilograms of opium, estimated to be worth Rs7 lakh in the illegal market.

According to Superintendent of Police Aditya Langeh, a tip-off led Inspector Devendra Bahadur Singh and his team to conduct a raid at the service lane in front of Majhwar station. Dangi was intercepted with a suspicious bag, which, upon inspection, was found to contain the opium.

Initial interrogation revealed that Dangi had picked up the consignment near Barkakana Railway Station and was en route to Varanasi Junction (Cantt Station) for delivery. He also confessed to having completed two similar deliveries in the past. Notably, he mentioned that his contacts used Instagram to exchange photographs for identification between handlers.

The police are investigating further to identify the entire smuggling network, including contacts in Barkakana and Varanasi.
