Rosbert Cabrera, Bronx Teen Charged in Stafford NJ Counterfeit Case

Two New York residents face forgery charges at local ShopRite

STAFFORD, NJ — February 26, 2026

A months-long investigation into the use of counterfeit currency at a local ShopRite has led to charges against two New York residents.

The original incident occurred on December 26, 2025, at the ShopRite located at 297 Route 72. Following an investigation led by Detective Zac Halliday, authorities identified the suspects:

Rosbert Cabrera, 19, of Soundview Avenue, Bronx, NY – issued a criminal complaint summons to appear in Ocean County Superior Court.

Male Juvenile, 15, of Bronx, NY – issued a juvenile delinquency complaint summons to appear in family court.

Both individuals face one count each of 3rd-degree forgery, a violation of N.J.S.A 2C:21-1A(2).

The Stafford Township Police Department emphasized the importance of community vigilance and thanked residents and store personnel for their assistance in identifying the suspects.
