MIAMI, Fla. – A South Florida business owner has been arrested after authorities discovered multiple stolen vehicles and engines in shipping containers at PortMiami destined for the United Arab Emirates.
Roohullah Abdul-Rauof, 47, owner of Shine Motors in Opa-locka, faces numerous charges, including dealing in stolen property, grand theft of vehicles, fraudulently obtaining vehicle titles, and operating a chop shop.
On Sept. 22, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers found a 2024 Chevrolet Tahoe, a 2016 Hyundai Sonata, and a 2017 Hyundai Sonata—stolen in Miami-Dade—inside a shipping container owned by Abdul-Rauof. Additional engines linked to stolen vehicles from Miami-Dade and Plantation were also recovered.
Further inspections on Oct. 7 and Oct. 15 revealed more stolen vehicles, engines, and vehicle doors at Shine Motors. Authorities estimate the total recovered property is worth over $214,000.
Investigators also discovered 274 improperly transferred Florida certificates of title linked to Abdul-Rauof’s business.
Abdul-Rauof was booked into jail and appeared in bond court, where prosecutors cited him as a flight risk. His bond was set at $145,500, and he was ordered to surrender his passport.
