WISE COUNTY, Va. — Ronnie Wayne Phillips, 42, of Castlewood, was arrested Tuesday after allegedly shooting another man in the back in Wise, Virginia.
The incident occurred around 8:09 p.m. on Sykes Boulevard, when deputies from the Wise County Sheriff’s Office responded to reports of a shooting.
Authorities found the victim with a gunshot wound to the back. Life-saving measures were performed before he was transported to a medical facility. His name has not been released.
Phillips reportedly fled the scene but was later located on Tacoma Mountain Road.
He faces charges of aggravated malicious wounding, shooting at an occupied vehicle, and using a firearm in the commission of a felony.
Phillips was taken into custody at the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail in Duffield, Va.
