DALLAS, Texas — Rondarrius Evans, a 21-year-old man wanted for a brutal double homicide in New Boston, Texas, has been apprehended in downtown Dallas after a months-long manhunt. The arrest comes after Evans was placed on the Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitives list and was charged with the 2024 murders in Bowie County.
Evans, who had also missed a court appearance in a separate drug-related case in Titus County earlier this year, was arrested by authorities on Tuesday. While the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) did not reveal how Evans was tracked to Dallas, his capture has removed one of the state’s most-wanted criminals from the streets.
In a related development, Hector Padilla Jr., 35, was taken into custody by DPS Special Agents on Sunday in Laredo. Padilla, wanted for violating probation after a 2024 aggravated assault conviction, had been on the run since December.
The arrests of Evans and Padilla are part of a broader effort by Texas law enforcement, which has captured 25 individuals from the Texas 10 Most Wanted lists so far in 2025.
