Nabarangpur Town Police have arrested three men for breaking into the government residence of BDO Sunil Khara in the Sadar block and committing burglary.
The accused have been identified as Romya Karkara of Tota Sahi, Srikant Giri, and Baburaj Khara from Sunabeda in Koraput district.
On November 4, the burglars exploited Khara’s absence and broke into his official quarters via the ventilation system in the block colony, stealing cash, a laptop, and gold and silver ornaments. Khara immediately lodged a complaint with the Town Police.
Investigators deployed a scientific team and launched a swift probe. Extensive searches led to the arrest of the trio and the recovery of Rs10,000, a laptop, and the stolen jewelry. SDPO Krushnachandra Bhatra confirmed that the accused were also involved in two other thefts in the town.
The accused were presented in court after recovery of the stolen items. Police officials emphasized that the arrests demonstrate how coordinated investigation and scientific methods are strengthening efforts to tackle rising burglary cases in the region.
