In a major crackdown against the lottery mafia in Rohtas district, a joint team of STF, district police, and the District Intelligence Unit (DIU) conducted simultaneous raids in Dehri-on-Sone and a rice mill at Sabarabad in the Chenari police station area on Tuesday, arresting six individuals. Authorities recovered a large number of lottery tickets, laptops, cellphones, and other electronic equipment.
Five people were apprehended from Dehri-on-Sone. SP Rohtas, Roshan Kumar, who participated in the operation, confirmed that the raids were still underway. The team targeted four locations, including the rice mill, with two in the Barah Pathar locality and one in Mohan Bigha of Dehri town. To ensure smooth execution, the STF and district police secured all locations and restricted public movement nearby.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Rajesh Gupta (Barah Pathar), Rishu Kumar, Kheeru Kumar, Shivam Kumar, along with Om Prakash Paswan and his son Sonu Kumar. Police seized lottery tickets, laptops, and other incriminating documents from the locations.
SP Roshan Kumar confirmed that additional raids were conducted at other locations beyond Dehri Nagar, leading to further recoveries. Authorities are actively investigating to identify and apprehend the masterminds behind the illegal lottery operations, which have financially ruined several local families. At the time of reporting, the raid at the rice mill was still in progress.
