In Colva Beach, the coastal security police arrested a 19-year-old tourist from Maharashtra, Rohit Sanjay Pawar, for allegedly taking photographs and recording videos of a foreign national without her consent on Sunday.
Police stated that the incident was noticed during a routine patrol. Officers Namdev Mandrekar and Kalpesh Mulgaonkar observed Pawar following a foreign woman along the shoreline while behaving suspiciously. Upon closer inspection, they saw him secretly using his mobile phone to click photos and record videos, causing the woman discomfort and distress.
Pawar has been booked under offences related to harassment and invasion of privacy and was arrested following registration of the case. Authorities have warned tourists and beachgoers to respect personal privacy and adhere to local laws.
