Rohit Meena Arrested for Online IPO Investment Scam

Cyber Crime Police foil WhatsApp-based fraud

by Ananya Mehta

Chandigarh Cyber Crime Police have arrested Rohit Meena (21), a resident of Bhilwara, Rajasthan, for orchestrating a WhatsApp-based online investment scam. The FIR for the case was registered on September 26, following complaints from victims who were duped into transferring money for fraudulent IPO block-trading schemes.

The primary complainant, Bharat Kumar of Chandigarh, reported that he was added to a WhatsApp group promoting high-return investments. Believing the scheme to be genuine, he transferred large sums to accounts controlled by the accused. Investigators discovered that the transactions were linked to accounts in Bhilwara, and the mobile numbers used for the scam were traced back to Meena.

Police have confirmed that further investigations are ongoing to identify additional victims and any accomplices involved in the scam.
