Shillong: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, police arrested three individuals and seized 162.52 grams of heroin in a targeted anti-narcotics operation. The network was reportedly using a local hardware store as a front for distribution.
The operation began on June 24 when police, acting on intelligence, apprehended Rohit Mattu near NEHA Transport with 10.26 grams of heroin. His interrogation led to the arrest of his employer, Ansh Sher Gill, also known as Suraj Gill, identified as the primary supplier.
Gill, who operated a hardware shop, confessed to using the store to camouflage his drug distribution network.
Further probe resulted in the arrest of courier Raman Raina and the seizure of an additional 152.26 grams of heroin from a rented house in Raid Laban.
A fourth accused, Rohit Honda, remains absconding, and a manhunt has been launched for his capture.
Police have indicated that more arrests may follow as the investigation continues to uncover the full extent of the drug network.
