A rogue roofer has pleaded guilty to several fraud offenses in Warwickshire following an investigation by Warwickshire County Council Trading Standards.

Louis William Gaskin, a 20-year-old from Windmill Lane, Balsall Common, admitted to three offenses under the Fraud Act 2006 while trading as Pitch Roofing Ltd, based in Spalding, Lincolnshire.

At Warwick Crown Court on June 12, he confessed to the following charges:

  1. Between April 24 and April 28, 2023, at a home in Kenilworth, Gaskin made false representations to the homeowner, claiming that £33,420 was a fair price for roofing work that was done.
  2. On or around May 11, 2023, he again misled the same homeowner into believing that they needed to pay an additional £9,240 in VAT.
  3. On or around May 17, 2023, he falsely claimed that the weight of the roof was damaging the soffits and fascias, stating that repairs would cost £18,000 plus VAT.

Gaskin’s actions have raised significant concerns about fraud in the roofing industry.
