ROCHESTER, N.Y. — After nearly seven years, justice was served for the family of Tracy Henton-Williams, as her former partner Roger Lee Wiggins was convicted of second-degree murder in her 2018 death.

The conviction was handed down by a Monroe County jury on Wednesday, marking a pivotal conclusion to a prolonged case that began with a harrowing discovery on June 11, 2018.

Authorities responded to Buffalo Road that day after receiving reports of a woman who had been stabbed and fallen from a moving vehicle. The victim, later identified as Henton-Williams, was found critically injured by passing motorists who rushed to her aid. She was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital, where she later died.

Investigators determined that Wiggins stabbed Henton-Williams multiple times in the neck and chest while she was in the passenger seat of his vehicle. She ultimately fell or was pushed from the car as he fled the scene.

The next day, Wiggins was apprehended at the Canadian border. The arrest followed a tip from workers at the Buffalo Recycling Facility, who discovered personal items belonging to Henton-Williams, two knives, and a shirt containing DNA from both the victim and Wiggins. Surveillance footage also showed Wiggins discarding the items at the facility.

First Assistant District Attorney Perry Duckles praised those involved, stating, “Tracy was a mother, a daughter, a sister, and an educator. I must thank the agencies and Good Samaritans who stood by her and helped bring this case to justice.”

Monroe County District Attorney Sandra Doorley added, “This was a clear case of domestic violence and a tragic loss. I hope today’s verdict brings some comfort to Tracy’s family.”

Roger Lee Wiggins is scheduled to be sentenced on July 21.
