Roger Craig Vittitoe, 29, was arrested in Hidalgo County on Saturday for stalking San Antonio Police Chief William McManus and his wife, Lourdes. Vittitoe faces two stalking charges after investigators say he bombarded McManus’ wife with obsessive, harassing, and alarming voice and electronic messages over a 72-hour period starting on September 3.
The harassment reportedly stemmed from Vittitoe’s anger over the outcome of a previous criminal case he had filed as a complainant. Authorities say his goal was to reach Chief McManus through his wife. The arrest warrant affidavit detailed the intensity and alarming nature of the messages, which ultimately led to Vittitoe’s arrest.
Stalking anyone is illegal, but targeting a police chief and his family highlights the seriousness of the offense. Vittitoe is now in custody facing charges related to stalking and harassment.
