Rod White Charged in Springfield Shooting Death

57-Year-Old Faces Murder, Weapons Charges

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Springfield resident Rod White, 57, has been charged with first-degree murder, possession of a weapon by a felon, and possession of a weapon by a repeat felony offender, the Sangamon County State’s Attorney’s Office confirmed.

The charges stem from the death of Sean Campbell, 54, who was found at a residence on the 1200 block of East Kansas Street.

Sangamon County Coroner Jim Allmon confirmed that Campbell died from a gunshot wound. Authorities are treating the case as a homicide, and both the Springfield Police Department and the coroner’s office continue to investigate.
