A Rochester man, Loyd Kennedy, who was arrested last Friday in Geneva on felony drug charges, attempted to escape during his court appearance on Monday. Kennedy, who was charged alongside another convicted felon with criminal possession of a controlled substance, faced charges after police discovered a significant amount of crack cocaine and ecstasy at a residence on South Main Street.
During his initial court appearance at Geneva City Criminal Court, Kennedy allegedly fled the courtroom and attempted to force his way through a security checkpoint. However, Ontario County Court Deputies quickly apprehended him and sent him to the Ontario County Jail.
In the process of the escape, one of the deputies was injured and was later treated at Geneva General Hospital before being released. Kennedy now faces additional charges of escape and assault, both felonies.
It is important to note that while Kennedy has been charged with these crimes, he is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
