A man has been sentenced for a series of historic sexual abuse offences committed in Rochdale between 1987 and 1998. The sentencing took place at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court on Friday, July 25, 2025. The offender was also issued a lifetime Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
Detective Constable Stacey from Greater Manchester Police’s Major Incident Team praised the survivors for their bravery, saying:
“I would like to thank the victims in this case who came forward nearly 40 years later and reported their abuse to us.
Sexual abuse knows no time limits – regardless of when it happened or your age at the time, we are here to listen.”
She emphasized the importance of investigating non-recent offences to provide long-overdue justice and closure to survivors who may have carried trauma for decades.
“Our commitment is to pursue the truth and hold perpetrators accountable, no matter how much time has passed,” she added.
