A North Carolina woman, Robin Renae Deaton, 52, has been arrested and charged with first-degree kidnapping and attempted murder after allegedly trapping her boyfriend inside a storage unit for four days following an argument.
The Incident
On Monday, February 24, police in Charlotte received a 911 call from a distressed man claiming he had been locked inside a storage unit since Thursday, February 20.
He told operators: “I just need out of here. I just can’t breathe. I haven’t had a drink or anything.”
He claimed Deaton double-locked the door from the outside, leaving him in total darkness.
The storage unit was described as a “hoarder’s paradise,” overcrowded with belongings, making it difficult for him to locate his phone.

Police arrived at Cooper Storage Units on Old Charlotte Highway and found him inside Container 43.
He was dehydrated and was taken to the hospital, but has since been released.
Authorities say when they opened the unit, belongings immediately fell out, blocking access.

First-degree kidnapping
Attempted murder
She remains in custody as the investigation continues.
