BROOKSVILLE, FL — A Brooksville man faces multiple felony drug charges following a traffic stop that led to a major narcotics bust, the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Robert Wright, 44, was a passenger in a 2002 Hyundai Elantra pulled over for traffic violations, including a broken brake light and failure to stop at a posted sign. During the stop, Wright consented to a search by the Vice and Narcotics Unit.
Deputies located Alprazolam (Xanax) pills, a baggie, and a scale with cocaine residue — all indicators of drug distribution.
After his arrest, a further search at the Hernando County Detention Center uncovered a concealed baggie containing approximately 56 grams of fentanyl, 1.5 grams of cocaine, and more Alprazolam pills. Field tests confirmed the presence of the drugs.
Wright is charged with:
Trafficking in Fentanyl
Possession of Cocaine
Possession of Alprazolam
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
He remains in custody at the Hernando County Jail. Bond details have not been released.
