DALLAS, Texas — A 44-year-old man was fatally shot Saturday afternoon in the Love Field area of Dallas, prompting the arrest of 43-year-old Robert Simmons.
Police responded to the 4400 block of Maple Avenue just after 2:30 p.m. for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, officers found Augustin Espinosa unresponsive with a gunshot wound. Dallas Fire-Rescue declared Espinosa deceased at the scene.
Simmons was quickly apprehended at a nearby restaurant. He faces multiple charges including deadly conduct for discharging a firearm, possession of a controlled substance, and violation of bond conditions.
He is currently held in the Dallas County Jail with a combined bond set at $2,000 for possession and bond violation charges.
Authorities are still investigating the motive and circumstances behind the deadly shooting.
