MIAMI – On social media, Robert Pulido, using the alias Berto Delvanicci, showcased a lavish lifestyle to tens of thousands of followers. On his Instagram bio, he claimed to be a 24-year-old foreign exchange trader, amassing millions of dollars. However, authorities say Pulido scammed at least three victims out of a combined total of $159,000.
According to the police, Pulido promised his followers that he would use his “expertise” to invest their money, charging a monthly subscription for access to his advice. Instead, the victims received nothing in return.
One of Pulido’s alleged victims spoke to Local 10 News anonymously, recounting his experience. He said he first contacted Pulido in 2019 when he turned 18 and inherited money from his grandmother. The victim entrusted Pulido with $75,000, hoping it would go toward investments and the purchase of an Audi R8 for a car rental business they had discussed.
However, investigators say Pulido posted images of the Audi R8 on his own social media, never using the car for the rental business. The victim never saw a penny of the money again, and no rental revenue was generated.
As the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) began its investigation, authorities say Pulido pressured his victims into not cooperating with law enforcement.
Pulido was arrested at Miami International Airport on Saturday, after returning from Colombia. He has since been released from jail after posting a $45,000 bond.
