BEAUFORT, S.C. — Robert Madison Taylor, 57, a Beaufort County businessman, has been arrested and charged with operating without a valid retail license, the South Carolina Department of Revenue confirmed.

Taylor, who runs a flooring business in Bluffton, had his retail license revoked in July 2024 due to unpaid sales tax. Despite being instructed to close the business and halt sales until a new license was obtained, an investigation revealed he continued conducting retail sales illegally.

If convicted, Taylor faces up to 30 days in jail and/or a $200 fine. He is currently held at the Beaufort County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
