Charleston, WV — Robert Lee Butterworth, 33, of Kanawha County, was sentenced to up to 40 years in prison on November 7, 2024, for his involvement in multiple thefts, including the theft of catalytic converters and a 2002 Dodge Ram vehicle, as well as breaking and entering.
Between April and August 2022, Butterworth was involved in several incidents of Grand Larceny across Kanawha County. His crimes included stealing multiple catalytic converters from various locations, as well as the theft of a black 2002 Dodge Ram in the Cross Lanes area. In addition, he was convicted of Breaking and Entering related to his unlawful entry into the property of Airgas of Charleston.
On September 23, 2024, Butterworth pled guilty to charges of Breaking and Entering and three counts of Grand Larceny, leading to his conviction. He was sentenced by Kanawha County Circuit Judge Jennifer Bailey following prosecution by Assistant Prosecuting Attorney Monica Shwartz.
Butterworth now faces a maximum penalty of up to 40 years in prison for his crimes.
