RANKIN COUNTY, Miss. (WLBT) — A Jackson high school coach and teacher has been arrested in Rankin County on serious drug trafficking charges.
Robert Landers, who serves as a health teacher and assistant football coach at Murrah High School, was taken into custody Monday after a multi-agency investigation led to the seizure of large quantities of drugs.
According to the Rankin County Sheriff’s Office, deputies, along with Madison Police Investigators and U.S. Postal Service agents, executed a search warrant at Landers’ residence on Mt. Helm Road.
Inside the home, investigators reportedly found 13 one-pound bags of high-grade marijuana and approximately 7 pounds of a gray paste-like substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine. All narcotics have been sent to the state crime lab for confirmation testing.
Landers was booked into the Rankin County Jail on two counts of conspiracy to traffic a controlled substance. Authorities say no bond has been set at this time.
