On Sunday evening, February 18, Washington, DC police arrested a man accused of attempting to rob a business at gunpoint in Southeast DC. The suspect, 41-year-old Robert Jameson, reportedly entered a store in the 2900 block of Minnesota Avenue, SE, around 6:02 p.m. He displayed a handgun and attempted to steal the cash register, but was unsuccessful. Jameson then grabbed other merchandise before fleeing the scene.

Officers quickly issued a lookout, and a detective patrolling the area later spotted Jameson nearby. With help from Sixth District officers, Jameson was arrested without incident and charged with robbery while armed. A subsequent search revealed narcotics in his possession, leading to an additional felony drug charge.

Accompanying Jameson was 38-year-old Velitha Williams, who was found with stolen merchandise from the robbery. She was also detained and charged with receiving stolen property. Officers discovered an outstanding arrest warrant for Williams, leading to a charge of fugitive from justice.

Both suspects are facing serious charges following the robbery attempt and further investigation into their actions.
