MILLBROOK, Ala. — Robert J. Davis Jr., 27, of Elmore, was arrested Tuesday after leading police on a high-speed chase related to a theft investigation.
The investigation began on July 27 after police received a report about stolen equipment from a lawn service trailer near Charleston Place. Using witness descriptions, authorities identified Davis as a suspect.
Officers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency attempted to stop Davis while he was driving westbound on Highway 14. Instead of stopping, Davis sped away, turning southbound onto I-65 and reaching speeds close to 100 mph.
Police eventually stopped Davis near several businesses on Mobile Highway, where he attempted to flee on foot. A Montgomery Police K-9 unit tracked him down in a nearby wooded area, leading to his arrest.
Davis faces charges of felony attempting to elude and reckless endangerment. He is currently held at the Elmore County Jail.
