Charleston, S.C. — On Thursday, the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office arrested Robert Edward Williamson Jr., 37, of North Charleston, on nearly a dozen charges, including involuntary manslaughter, trafficking fentanyl (second offense), and several weapon-related charges.
Williamson was apprehended after an investigation linked him to a fatal overdose at a sober living home on Old Parsonage Road, which occurred on April 20. Deputies responded to reports of a possible overdose and found the victim unresponsive. Despite emergency medical aid, the individual was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Charleston County Sheriff’s Criminal Investigation Division and the Charleston County Coroner’s Office continued their investigation, which led to Williamson being named in connection with the death. In addition to involuntary manslaughter, he faces multiple charges related to drug trafficking, weapon possession, and driving under suspension.
Williamson is currently being held at the Sheriff Al Cannon Detention Center.
