BEXAR COUNTY, Texas — Robert Adrian Aparicio, 34, has been arrested and charged with murder in connection to the January stabbing death of Christopher James Renteria, 38.

The stabbing occurred around 10 p.m. on January 12 in the 1900 block of Montezuma Street. First responders found Renteria lying in the street with multiple stab wounds. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Renteria suffered cardiac arrest and a severe brain injury, ultimately dying on May 26 from his injuries.

According to the arrest affidavit, witnesses told police the attack stemmed from an argument over a pair of hair clippers Renteria had taken from Aparicio, who reportedly retaliated after Renteria broke the window of his truck. Aparicio allegedly chased Renteria with a knife and stabbed him as he fell to the ground before fleeing the scene in a red Ford Ranger.

Surveillance footage confirmed the attack, capturing both the stabbing and Aparicio’s truck leaving the area. Investigators traced the truck’s license plate using SAPD’s Automated License Plate Reader system, linking it to multiple images and ultimately to Aparicio.

Further investigation included a Craigslist-related tip and photo evidence that helped confirm Aparicio’s identity. Witnesses positively identified him from a photo line-up, strengthening the case.

Aparicio is currently held in the Bexar County Jail with bail set at $350,000. He has prior convictions for theft, drug possession, driving while intoxicated, and attempted burglary of a habitation with intent to commit a felony.
