Roanoke Police Identify Suspect in Early Morning Shooting That Left Five Injured

Donald Leroy Williams Charged After Shooting Incident on February 15, 2025, that Left Multiple Victims Injured

The Roanoke Police Department has charged 40-year-old Donald Leroy Williams with Possession of a Firearm by a Felon as part of an ongoing investigation into a shooting that occurred early Saturday morning, February 15, 2025.

At approximately 4:44 a.m., officers responded to the 4100 block of Melrose Avenue NW after reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they found a woman with gunshot wounds, who was immediately transported to a local hospital. Her injuries were deemed critical.

Soon after, police learned that four additional victims had sought medical treatment at nearby hospitals. Among these victims, one woman is also in critical condition, while two men and another woman sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The identities of these victims have not been publicly released at this time.

Donald Leroy Williams, who has been charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, is believed to be involved in the shooting incident. The investigation into the shooting is still active, and Roanoke Police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
