In a major crackdown on interstate drug trafficking in Kerala, excise officials arrested three key operatives near the KSRTC bus stand in Alappuzha. The accused, identified as Rinas from Mannanchery, Ananthu from Thrissur, and Appu from Ernakulam, were found in possession of 2.2 kilograms of cannabis, 1.1 kilograms of hashish oil, 4 grams of methamphetamine, and 334 MDMA pills.
Authorities also seized Rs 63,500 in cash and five mobile phones, reportedly used to coordinate deliveries and avoid detection. The trio was allegedly part of a sophisticated network using virtual numbers and a “drop system” to transport drugs from other states to Kerala.
In a separate operation, police apprehended Joel George, a 22-year-old from Puthenvelikkara, with 46.55 grams of MDMA. Joel had traveled from Bengaluru to Aluva and was intercepted at North Paravur while allegedly distributing synthetic drugs across Kochi, mainly targeting youth.
Police confirmed that investigations are ongoing to dismantle the network and identify other accomplices involved in drug trafficking in Kerala.
