Riley Wormington Charged with Murder After Toddler Dies from Fentanyl Overdose

Mooresville Mother Arrested in Colorado, Faces Murder and Child Abuse Charges

MOORESVILLE, N.C. – A Mooresville woman has been charged with second-degree murder after her toddler ingested a lethal dose of fentanyl and died on February 13 at a home on Ridge Avenue.

Authorities say Riley Wormington, 23, fled North Carolina shortly after giving birth to another child while investigators continued their probe into her toddler’s death. She was arrested this week in Denver, Colorado and will be extradited back to Iredell County to face charges.
