sexually assaulting a teenage girl.
Richard Santa Ana, 44, received consecutive sentences for three felonies:
198 years for two counts of first-degree felony aggravated sexual assault of a child
20 years for second-degree felony indecency with a child by sexual contact
The convictions followed a bench trial that revealed Santa Ana had repeatedly drugged and sexually assaulted the teenage daughter of a family friend. Evidence presented during the punishment phase also included testimony from another victim he assaulted in 2007.
According to the Hays County Criminal District Attorney’s office, Santa Ana remained unremorseful despite the guilty verdict. District Court Judge Joe Pool ordered the sentences to run consecutively, meaning each sentence must be served in full before the next begins.
Santa Ana will also be required to register as a sex offender for life and comply with a lifetime protective order for the teenage victim.
