Richard Kelley Canella Arrested on Drug Charges in Paris, TX

Meth, marijuana, and pills found after police respond to crowd

PARIS, Texas (KTEN) — A routine security check led to the arrest of a Paris man on multiple drug charges after officers responded to a report of a large crowd on September 7.

Paris police were dispatched to the 1800 block of Cedar Street where a gathering had drawn concern. Upon arrival, they encountered 35-year-old Richard Kelley Canella.

According to authorities, Canella appeared delusional and exhibited signs of narcotics use. A subsequent search led officers to discover methamphetamine, marijuana, and prescription medications in his possession.

Canella was taken into custody and now faces charges including:

Possession of a controlled substance

Possession of marijuana

Possession of a dangerous drug

He was booked into the local detention center. The investigation is ongoing.
